Roland Böer (Bad Homburg, 1970) studied piano, composition and conducting. He began his career as repetiteur at Frankfurt Opera (1996-1999), before he worked as pianist and conductor at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf (1999 – 2001). During this period he was also assistant to Antonio Pappano for various productions at the Bayreuth Festival, the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels and Covent Garden in London. From 2002 - 2008 he was Kapellmeister at Frankfurt Opera. As a guest conductor he worked at the Theâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the English National Opera and Covent Garden in London, the Royal Theatre of Stockholm, the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Opera in Bern and the Vienna Volksoper. He has conducted the Ensemble Modern, the Northern Symphony and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra; he has also appeared as conductor for the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra of Bavaria, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Luxembourg Philharmon Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and the London Symphony Orchestra. His operatic repertoire ranges from Händel to Henze, including the more significant works of Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini, Wagner and Strauss. Roland Böer recorded for EMI and Opera Rara (in both cases with the Philarmonia Orchestra) and for the Scottish BBC. His future engagements include new productions of “Les contes d’Hoffmann” at Frankfurt Opera, “Le nozze di Figaro” at the Opera in Warsaw and his debut with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. In spring 2011 he will make his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, with Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Roland Böer is currently Musical Director of the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano.
